Makeup Revolution Ultra Professional Collection 2016 | first impressions VIDEO
January 26, 2016
My
hellos to all of you! Right before New Years I ordered this gift set
from Makeup Revolution for which I paid around 16 pounds in total with
shipping. This arrived last week and has a video unboxing and first
impressions which you can find at the bottom of the post, but I am
writing all the information here as well for those who are not too keen
on watching and prefer this post format.
The
kit itself was 10 pounds and included 12 different products - eyeshadow
palette, contour kit, illuminator, 3 brushes, 2 lipsticks, 2 lip
glosses, an eyeliner, eye primer.
Brushes
One
dense, short bristle brush, looks synthetic, have not researched or
taken the time to read up on these; one i presume crease blending brush
and a powder blush. Least impressed with the short bristle brush, most
impressed with the powder brush. Brushes have been in the package for a
while, because they are a little deformed - requires a wash, rinse,
drying to say more. First impression overall is good, glad to get some
brushes as I have been wanting to order some for at least half a year
now.
Eyeshadow palette
Poor
one touch swatches, great rubbing swatches. In the palette the tones
look really nice, incredibly impressed with the black eyeshadow. If I
knew there were absolutely no other palettes with a black in them from
Makeup Revolution, I would get this one just for that one shade as it
swatches off hand nicely and does not leave patches from fingers.
Besides that the palette has various options for blue, green, brown eyed
people as well as offers nice evening looks from neutral to dramatic
ones. All shades besides the black are shimmer ones. The brown on by the
black seems to be matte as well, but can not really understand that.
Eye primer
Has basically no scent, very light shade. First impressions were neutral, second impressions
after using for one day are good - it did not crease on my eyelids, did
not disappear, it has a nice consistency. No allergies or redness. Did
not make my eyeshadows crumble or go on patchy.
Illuminator/highlighter
Poor
first impressions because of the packaging - it is poorly made as it's
easy to open with one finger and feels incredibly unsafe. If this were
to break in a purse or makeup bag, everything would be ruined and there
would be shimmer everywhere for years. Besides the package the
highlighter felt very dry, but gave a nice white champagne shimmery
highlight.
Contour kit
Includes
a matte bronzer, shimmery highlighter and shimmer blusher. First
impressions were good, the bronzer is light enough to contour my ghost
face with. Blusher I will most likely never use. Second impressions
after using for a day - the bronzer comes on a brush amazingly well,
super impressed with that. Works well on my face, but it is easy to go
overboard with this if not used wisely. Highlight stays on the face all
day long for 12 hours straight, but leaves some glittery parts on the
face; best applied with fingers in my opinion.
Lipsticks
No
names, this does my head in, because products like these can be well
recognized by names, but here I do not even know how to name these. Second impression
- The nude lipstick is more of a warm shade, but looks amazing on my
lips. They appeared to be a little fuller, a very nice nude shade. Goes
on the lips buttery, feels okay, but after 3,4 hours requires some
moisture. Did not make my lips particularly chapped or dry. Good
product, I really love the nude shade so far. The red one eats off
easily, but can be a great statement piece for makeup. Red feels a
little bit dryer on the lips, but looks good, easy to work with, did not
have any issues of it smearing all over the face. Requires frequent re
applying.
Intense lip glosses
The
smell of these is what could sell it for me. Classic pink bubble gum
scent. The lightest shade swatches clear with some glittery particles.
The barbie pink one swatches intense on color pink exactly as it is in
the tube. That basically all I can comment on for now.
Honorable mention
The
eyeliner. It is black, has a very short wand, but I did not take the
time to photograph it, I forgot.. The small tube it is in makes it hard
to remember. Comes off in chunks when used with micellar water! BUT
comes off fine with facial cleansing wipe. This left a sour taste for
first impression.
